CHarles R. Henderson Elementary

About the School:

   Charles R. Henderson Elementary School teaches students from as young as preschoolers to 8th graders in Chicago, Illinois. With almost 200 students, the school’s mission is to give students the opportunity to problem solve and collaborate in order to prepare them for their future in college and careers. Charles R. Henderson Elementary offers education in literature, language, the arts, sciences, mathematics, technology, and more. 

 

   The school has athletics such as basketball, volleyball, softball, cheerleading, and track available to the students. They also have art and music programs, including choir. Teachers extend quality instruction to their students, preparing them for further education and helping them create and explore. Other after school programs include debate, dance, chess, STEM, and a student voice committee.

   The elementary school has received the Gold Circle of Quality, which gives recognition to schools that meet or go beyond the standards of the award! Charles R. Henderson Elementary has also been classified as “emerging” in the Supportive Schools Certification, meaning that they are developing a plan to support social and emotional learning. Additionally, they have achieved 83% of the standards for Healthy CPS, a measurement of the health and health services of a school by Chicago Public School.

NECEF has donated enough school supplies and books to Charles R. Henderson Elementary School to last for the year with the help of many volunteers and helpers. We would like to extend a warm thank you to everyone who contributed!
